About this session

Grab your popcorn! In this interactive session, cinema aficionado and emergency manager Thomas Appleyard will walk participants through several of the great disaster movies of the past century to reflect on the leadership lessons they teach. Thomas will explore the theoretical and the evidentiary basis for the claims these movies make about leadership effectiveness. Participants will come away with a heightened understanding of how they can lead their teams facing a crisis, and will never see a disaster movie the same way again. Films include Alive, Blindness, Fail Safe, Force Majeure, Melancholia, Take Shelter, United 93 and others.
